the insulation grants are available but its not a goverment run grant its actually your energy provider that pays for the work to be done and ppl over 70 and ppl on working tax credits etc etc get a 100% grant ,the energy providers are paying for it as they have been told to reduce co2 output and after researching they have come to the concluysion that homes not properly insulated is a major factor as the customer is burning way to much fuel just to keep warm.There are a few gd companies out there like sig energy management and his.

Got a call last night from “Nelson” who said he was from the “Grant Research Centre”. He came up as International. I told him I didn’t take cold calls and put the phone down. He call back 1 minute later and so I asked for his name and company (as above) but when I asked for his telephone number he told me to “f### off” and put the phone down!

SSE Scottish and Southern Energy plc who supply M S Energy will increase prices for household electricity by 11 average and household gas by 18 on 14 September 2011. After that it will not implement another household energy price increase before August 2012 at the earliest. Since M S Energy became available in 2008 electricity prices have never increased.

I live in Hampshire and have had 2 calls with Indian or Asian operators from an call centre asking me about cavity wall and roof insulation – neither of which we need. On the first call, i could not get any sense from the girl as to what they are offering. I just told her I was not interested and terminated the call. Today 13/7 I got another call – a male. I explained I needed none of their ‘services’ and requested that they remove my number from their calling list – he told me he wouldn’t and to – and I quote – p**s off. I tried 1471 – the number (not surprisingly) was 0000000. We are on the TPS list so this is offshore and unless my service provider can trace the company I’ll just have to keep putting the phone down.

Another call tonight from the “Energy Grant Research Centre” who state the are backed by HM Gov’t. Calls stopped for a couple of weeks when I told them I was ex- D and registered with TPS. Told them again – will see what happens. In any event, it is probably cheaper for anyone with basic ability to (for example), insulate loft space yourself!
So save some cash and tell authorities like the Information Commissioners Office if they call you repeatedly.

Yeah just had a call from Home Insulation Grant Research Centre myself, we are ex directory, part of the telephone preference service and don’t give our number out to anyone other than family/friends. Gave the girl both barrels. Sounded like it was an overseas call centre.

The scheme is the first in Burnley to receive grant aid from Lancashire County Council s Climate Change Fund. The grant will help to pay for a new efficient condensing boiler as well as to the floor internal front walls and mineral wool to the floor suspended ceiling.
